Tacloban City Supermarket Community-Based Organization (CBO) EPAHP RPMO Validation

The validation result after assessment showed that a need for capacity building for the CBOs in the City should be implemented, this can be done with the support of the different NGAs that are partner agencies of EPAHP RCT RO VIII

The DSWD FO VIII Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger & Poverty Regional Program Management Office (EPAHP RPMO) carried out a series of Community-Based Organizations field validation and assessment at Tacloban City Supermarket last February 2, 2024, in coordination with the Office of the Market Administrator by the established federations for each Agri-product and fisheries category (vegetables, root crops, fruits, and dried fish) with their Presidents. The validation aimed to determine the NP-CP readiness based on legal, technical, and financial requirements and other important documents needed.

These criteria are considered to mitigate the risk of choosing an unqualified CBO to be included in this type of modality procurement. Results revealed that the majority of them are not qualified based on the validation and assessment conducted using the Enhancement Assessment Tool, instead, they will be subject to capacitation through Capability Building activities for the association’s legitimization in coordination with the City Government of Tacloban and EPAHP partner agencies.

The activity is a starting point for EPAHP FO VIII RPMO of this year's more thorough validation of CBOs in Region VIII, for the fulfillment of the “Walang Gutom Program,” of the government by capacitating CBOs to uplift their living and develop communities in rural and urban areas in the Region VIII.
