DSWD FO VIII EPAHP RPMO-DepEd RO VIII Negotiated Procurement/Community Participation (NP/CP) Virtual Orientation
The DSWD-DepEd Orientation on NP/CP was conducted last March 5, 2024, attended by DepEd’s focal and representatives from their 13 divisions in Region 8, graced by DepEd Region VIII Assistant Regional Director Ronelo Al K. Firmo, where he emphasized the essence of partnership and synergy to achieve not just the goal of one but of all, especially in the fight against hunger and poverty, where two agencies mandated for education and social service are bound to create programs and services for educating the populace and services for social protection.
The School-based Feeding Program (SBFP) program is one of the institutional feeding programs implemented by the government intended for malnourished children enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 3 at the elementary level. The DepEd SBFP enables the children in schools to acquire the nutrition they need by providing them with healthy and nutritious foods to make them healthy and smart.
The discussion of NPCP through the virtual orientation drew positive results. The department assured the EPAHP RPMO that the modality will be studied as another mode of procurement and will draft a standard operating procedure (SOP) that will enable CBOs to have a chance to supply their School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP). The glimpse of NP/CP implementation in DepEd will provide a brighter opportunity for the CBOs in Region VIII to supply the needed nutritious and quality foods to the students - the country's future.
