Training Equips Community-Based Organizations in the Bicol Region with Business Sustainability and Marketing Strategies

Legazpi City, Albay – June 4, 2024 - Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in Bicol gathered for a transformative two-day training on Business Sustainability and Marketing conducted by the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP).

Held on May 9-10, 2024 at Kairos Food & Allied Services Corp. (A.KA. La Roca Veranda Suites), Legazpi City, the event aimed to empower participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive sustainable development in their communities, particularly in their respective organizations.

The Resource Person, Mr. Jose Luis Bobadilla, Senior Trade Industry Development Specialist of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), commenced the training with a focus on embracing business strategy in business sustainability and the crafting of a Business Sustainability Plan. Participants were introduced to the concept of business sustainability and its importance in the context of community-based organizations. Through interactive sessions and group activities, attendees learned how to assess their organization's current sustainability practices and identify areas for improvement.

The second topic of the day centered on developing a Strategic Marketing Plan. The Resource Person guided participants through the process of understanding their target market, conducting market research, and designing effective marketing strategies to promote their products or services. By the end of the day, participants had gained practical insights and tools to create comprehensive marketing plans tailored to their organization's needs and goals.

Highlighting the second day was a captivating message delivered by Ms. Annielen L. Panerio, the esteemed General Manager of Camarines Sur Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Drawing from her extensive experience, Ms. Panerio shared invaluable insights and best practices adopted by the cooperative, inspiring participants to adopt innovative and collaborative approaches toward sustainable development.

“Napakahalaga ng inyong parte sa pagsasakatuparan ng mga layunin ng EPAHP. Kung kaya, minabuting paglaanan kayo ng panahon upang magsanay at magkaroon ng dagdag kaalaman ukol sa pagpapatakbo ng inyong mga negosyo at kabuhayan. Ang mga pinto ng DSWD ay bukas para sa inyo upang kayo ay lalong mapaglingkuran at maging tuwang sa inyong pag-unlad. Nawa’y ramdam ninyo ang aming suporta at tugon sa inyong mga pangangailangan”, DSWD Field Office V Assistant Regional Director for Administration Raul A. Enojas said in his opening message.

The event also served as a platform for networking and knowledge exchange, fostering a sense of solidarity among CBOs committed to combating hunger and poverty in their communities. Participants left, equipped with practical tools and strategies to drive positive change and enhance the impact of their organizations.

The training activity was organized by the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Regional Program Management Office in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office V and Camarines Sur Multi-Purpose Cooperative, demonstrating a concerted effort to address pressing socio-economic challenges. As the region continues its journey towards addressing hunger and poverty, initiatives like this training activity play a crucial role in building resilient and empowered communities.
