Tanay, Baras and Magallanes CBOs Validated by EPAHP IV-A

Tanay, Baras and Magallanes CBOs Validated by EPAHP IV-A

Muntinlupa City (18 November 2024) - The Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty - Regional Program Management Office of CALABARZON (EPAHP-RPMO) conducted CBO Validation to CBOs based in Tanay and Baras in Rizal and in Magallanes, Cavite last 03 October 2024 and 04-05 November respectively. The Municipal Agriculturist Offices of said LGUs assisted the EPAHP-RPMO during the validation.

11 CBOs in Tanay, 9 CBOs in Baras and 10 CBOs in Magallanes were interviewed by the EPHAP staff to check their legal, technical and financial capacity to participate in Negotiated Procurement-Community Participation (NP-CP).  Prior to the CBO Validation, a short orientation on EPAHP, an overview of the NP-CP and the DSWD initiative to procure 30% of the food requirements of SFP and CRCF from farmers were discussed.  It was also an avenue to explore strategies with the respective MAO offices to encourage the farmer groups to complete their registration and accreditation.

CBOs endorsed by EPAHP partner agencies undergo CBO Validation. The CBO Validation is one of the key activities of the EPAHP-RPMO to determine the technical, legal and financial capacities of CBOs to engage in the procurement of goods by government agencies.  The results of the CBO Validation aid the program in determining CBOs who are ready to become food service providers of institutional feeding programs.  Likewise, capacity gaps of CBOs are also identified which inform the planning activities of the EPAHP CALABARZON Regional Convergence Team.

The Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger And Poverty is an inter-agency convergence program with the goal of mitigating hunger and promoting food and nutrition security. In CALABARZON, 17 regional line agencies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in June 2023 to formalize collaboration and ensure that food and nutrition security programs are synergized.  These agencies form the EPAHP CALABARZON Regional Convergence Team (RCT), the main support working group of the program, chaired by DSWD. The EPAHP-RPMO IV-A serves as its Secretariat.  For more information, visit epahp.org or contact EPAHP-RPMO IV-A at 0998-939-4614. (with reports from MMLamug)
