EPAHP Offers Market Opportunities to Farmers
Lipa City, Batangas (13 June 2024) - The Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty - Regional Program Management Office IV-A (EPAHP-RPMO IV-A) provided information to farmers on the market potential of institutional feeding program of DSWD during the 2nd Regional Civil Society Summit in Lipa City on 13-14 June 2024. The Summit was organized by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IV-A to cascade information on the various government programs and services geared towards increasing the socio-economic status of farmers.
Myrna A. Maglahus-Lamug, Regional Program Coordinator of EPAHP in CALABARZON encouraged the farmers to register their organizations to government regulatory bodies in order to strengthen their legal, technical and financial capacity to become food service providers of institutional feeding programs. “DSWD has two major potential markets for food producers and food manufacturers. These are the Supplementary Feeding Program and the food requirements of the DSWD-managed Centers and Residential Care Facilities. As an agency committed to address the food security in the region, the DSWD will open its market directly to farmers to ensure that safe, fresh and nutritious food is served in the agency's feeding programs”. A detailed orientation on EPAHP and the Sustainable Livelihood Program were also provided to participants.
The Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger And Poverty is an inter-agency convergence program with the goal of mitigating hunger and promoting food and nutrition security. In CALABARZON, 17 regional line agencies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in June 2023 to formalize collaboration and ensure that food and nutrition security programs are synergized. These agencies form the EPAHP CALABARZON Regional Convergence Team (RCT), the main support working group of the program, chaired by DSWD. The EPAHP-RPMO IV-A serves as its Secretariat.
