DSWD FIELD OFFICE IV-A HOSTS ANNUAL STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PLANNING FOR EPAHP CALABARZON REGIONAL CONVERGENCE TEAM

(Calamba City, Laguna) The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office IV-A, through its Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program, successfully conducted its Mid-Year Planning Workshop with its Regional Convergence Team (RCT) on July 17-19, 2024. Representatives and EPAHP Focals from 16 agencies and offices gathered at the Riverview Resort and Conference Center to discuss the RCT’s accomplishments, intercessions, and updates.

The activity was graced by the DSWD Regional Program Coordinator (RPC), Myrna A. Maglahus-Lamug, who acknowledged and commended the RCT for their commitment to the IATF-ZH and EPAHP. The aim of this activity was to address regional concerns about the implementation of the EPAHP RCT plan for CY 2024 and come up with concrete strategies for its successful execution.

Ms. Hazel M. Balbastro, Planning Officer III from the Policy and Plans Division of DSWD, led the RCT through the planning process using the risk management strategy. During the workshop, the team members revisited and assessed the RCT plan for CY 2024 in order to identify any necessary updates and modifications during the previous year's planning session. The workshop was an opportunity for team members to collaborate, share ideas, and develop strategies to ensure the continued success of EPAHP in CALABARZON. The discussions emphasized strengthening partnerships, optimizing resource utilization, and improving community engagement to maximize the program's impact.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to intensify their efforts, ensuring that the EPAHP program continues to make significant strides in the fight against hunger and poverty. Additionally, the workshop provided an opportunity for team members to engage in team-building activities and strengthen their working relationships.

The Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program – the banner program of the Inter-Agency Task Force-Zero Hunger, aims to mitigate hunger, ensure food and nutrition security, and reduce poverty in urban and rural communities, including marginalized areas. Further, the participating agencies are divided into three pillars based on the program design and their functions: support, demand, and supply partners.
