Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program Signed Regional Memorandum of Agreement (RMOA) to Combat Food Insecurity and Poverty in Tuguegarao City

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - April 29, 2024 - The battle against hunger and poverty reached a pivotal moment today as the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (DSWD FO2) gathered with a multitude of partner agencies at the Taj Hotel Tuguegarao City to sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program.

This landmark agreement, signed amidst a gathering of Regional Directors and representatives from key agencies including the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Agrarian Reforms, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Department of Health, the Department of Education, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the Philippine Information Agency, the National Nutrition Council, the Landbank of the Philippines, and the National Anti-Poverty Commission, aims to bolster efforts to increase farm and fishery productivity, enhance food nutrition security, and alleviate hunger and malnutrition in both urban and rural communities through collaborative action.

Director Alexis Lapiz of the National Anti-Poverty Commission underscored the significance of this unified endeavor in the national fight against poverty and hunger, emphasizing the critical role of cooperation and coordination among government agencies and partner organizations.

Regional Director Lucia Suyu-Alan of DSWD FO2 expressed profound gratitude to all attendees for their unwavering support, stating, "Thank you for the added strength that each of you contributes to our common goals. As we extend assistance to our farmers and fisherfolk under the purview of each agency, we recognize that strategies rooted in collaboration and synergy yield a far-reaching impact."

The EPAHP program emerges as a vital strategy in addressing pressing concerns related to hunger mitigation, food and nutrition insecurity, and poverty. Through this collaborative framework, partners can pool resources, seek assistance, and provide support to ensure effective hunger and poverty alleviation measures are implemented.
