SOCCSKSARGEN’s fight against hunger and poverty gains more partners - An addendum to RMOU was signed

On April 16, 2024, at KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato -- Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Director Loreto Cabaya Jr., who chairs the EPAHP Regional Convergence Team, said the entry of the Philippine Rice Research Institute-Midsayap Branch (PhilRice-Midsayap), the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor-Field Operations Division for Mindanao (PCUP-FODM), and the Philippine Information Agency Regional 12 to the partnership "marks a milestone."

"These three agencies complete our rooster of troops," Cabaya said, emphasizing that EPAHP has gained partners that may serve as a spokesperson in public information campaigns and advocacy, ensure rice supply, and a conduit for reaching the marginalized sectors in urban areas.

Together, partner agencies work to increase the productivity of farmers and fisherfolk and provide them, as community-based organizations (CBO), access to markets for their produce by supplying food product needs through supplemental feeding programs of the DSWD, Department of Education (DepEd), and National Nutrition Council (NNC), as well as requirements for meals for patients in hospitals, persons deprived of liberty in jail facilities, and similar end-users. The Regional Program Coordinator of the EPAHP Regional Program Management Office XII, Ibrahim S. Sangcupan said, “In the future, our CBOs may not only provide goods for government supplemental feeding programs but also cater to the needs of hospitals and display their produce in malls”.
