Representatives from DSWD Field Office IX - Zamboanga Peninsula, along with delegates from the DSWD EPAHP Central Office, were warmly welcomed to the Davao Region from April 22 to 24, 2024.
The primary objective of this gathering was to provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on the successful execution of EPAHP initiatives, particularly in forging partnerships between Community-Based Organizations and institutional markets such as the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP). Through the adoption of R.A. 9184 Sec. 53.12 Negotiated Procurement-Community Participation, DSWD XI seeks to enhance the reach and impact of EPAHP, with the ultimate goal of alleviating hunger and poverty in the region. Furthermore, the event aimed to facilitate knowledge sharing and replication of successful strategies in Zamboanga Peninsula.
During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to witness firsthand the delivery of goods by the Davao City Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Federation to the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) in Davao City. Additionally, they conducted a Focused-Group Discussion (FGD) with members of the Kilalag SLP Corporation in Malita, Davao Occidental, and participated in the distribution of goods to Child Development Centers in Barangay Demoloc, Malita.
Expressing their gratitude, representatives from the visiting team commended Field Office XI for their hospitality and invaluable insights. They underscored the significance of a convergence strategy between different DSWD programs and emphasized the importance of collaboration with Local Government Units to maximize the impact of social welfare initiatives.
EPAHP Regional Program Coordinator Ms. Angelie Rodriguez-Darilay, together with the Social Welfare and Development Officer of Davao Occidental Mr. Arris Medrano, SFP XI Head Ms. Laraine T. Villaver, and SLP Davao Occidental Coordinator Mr. Sheldon-Kaye Q. Porras led the conduct of the activity. OIC Chief for Administrative Services Division Engr. Eugene Louie C. Taming and Regional Accountant Ms. Jeanly May C. Bautista were also present to provide technical inputs inline with the Negotiated Procurement-Community Participation process.
