EPAHP  X -  Holds its 3RD EPAHP CARAVAN AND ONE -STOP SHOP  2024

The Enhance Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) held its 3rd-year EPAHP Caravan with the theme “ Together, we defeat hunger and Poverty” a three-day one-stop-shop event, from September 4-6, 2024, at SM Supermalls, Uptown, Cagayan de Oro City. The event featured orientations, training sessions, booth displays for selling, and free consultations. The activity was spearheaded by Mr. Melvin B. Maluto, the regional program coordinator, along with the entire EPAHP team, including Mr. Mark Kenneth G. Macas (Capacity Building and Planning Officer), Ms. Jesamor Daculos (Operation Monitoring Officer), Ms. Kimberly Ann E. Anayron (Finance Officer), and Ms. Pretty Bentillo (Administrative Assistant). The event was conducted in collaboration with 26 partner agencies involved in EPAHP together with SM Supermalls.

This initiative aimed to promote partnerships and engagement in addressing hunger and poverty in the region.

Key Details:

  • Orientation – Training and orientation on partner agencies programs such as Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), Department of Agriculture (DA),  Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), National Anti-Poverty Commission( NAPC), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and  Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
  • Training – a skills demo given by Technical Education and skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) partner agencies.
  • Booth display that involves selling of agricultural and non-agricultural products of Community based organization of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Department of Agriculture (DA), National Irrigation Administration (NIA), National Diary Authority (NDA).
  • Information Education and communication Materials (IEC) distributed and presented by Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Agriculture (DA), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI)
  • Free Health Consultation by Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) ,  Nutritional Assessment by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) and Family planning Consultation services given by Commission on Population and Development.
  • Participated by other partner Agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Budget and Finance (DBM), Department of Education (DEPED), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), National Food Authority (NFA), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), and Presidential Commission for the urban poor (PCUP)

 

Resource Speakers:

The event featured resource speakers from EPAHP (Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty) partners, who delivered presentations on various key topics over the three-day activity. These presentations were instrumental in enhancing the knowledge and skills of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in areas such as effective procurement, sustainable operations, and fostering community engagement.

This three-day caravan served as a pivotal platform for empowering CBOs, helping them to strengthen their role within the supply chain. It also showcased a wide array of products produced by farmers, contributing directly to EPAHP’s objectives of addressing hunger, reducing poverty, and promoting sustainable partnerships.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ACTIVITY

The three-day 3rd EPAHP Caravan began with several opening formalities that set the stage for the event, followed by a series of key activities. Below is a breakdown of the opening ceremony and the subsequent activities:

Registration, Preliminaries, and Acknowledgement:

  • All participants, including 26 EPAHP partner agencies, were registered and acknowledged.

Welcome Address:

  • Delivered by Ms. Salma M. Basher, Assistant Regional Director for Administration. She officially welcomed the participants and laid out the goals for the caravan.

Short Message by Ms. Jillian Liwanag:

  • Ms. Jillian Liwanag, SM Tenant Relations Officer, shared a brief message focusing on the collaborative efforts between tenants, stakeholders, and government agencies.

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony:

  • Ms. Glofelia J. Uayan, Promotive Division Chief, led the ceremonial cutting of the ribbons, symbolizing the official start of the caravan activities.

“44% Filipinos experience Food Insecurity in the 2023 data. Mandato sa DSWD ang pag address sa Hunger and Poverty mao ang mga programs niini, sama sa EPAHP naka align ani nga mandato. 

Sana magtulungan tayo and join us in our advocacy.” This was the call to action that the Assistant Regional Director for Administration (ARDA), Dir. Salmah Basher, challenge to the participants and agencies of the event.
