Empowering Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations: Successful Provincial Conference Held in Tabuk City, Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga — In a significant move to bolster the capabilities of associations funded by the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), a Provincial SLP Association (SLPA) Conference was recently held in Tabuk City, Kalinga. This event, a key initiative under the SLP, aimed to empower SLP-funded associations to take a more active role in community procurement activities, with a particular focus on government opportunities such as the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) and other community or center-based initiatives.

The conference featured in-depth discussions on several critical topics, including the SFP, the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP), Negotiated Procurement-Community Participation (NP-CP), and the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) registration. These sessions were designed to provide SLPAs with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively engage in and benefit from community procurement opportunities.

A highlight of the event was the inspiring testimonies shared by representatives from the Arang Chananao SLPA and the Musing SLPA. These associations have been successful bidders for the SFP since 2022, and their experiences provided valuable insights and encouragement to other participants.

The conference saw active participation, with 33 representatives from 16 different SLPAs across the province attending. This diverse representation underscored the widespread commitment to enhancing the operational capabilities of SLPAs and ensuring their active involvement in community development initiatives.

The Provincial SLPA Conference marks a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to support and strengthen the SLP associations, fostering a collaborative environment for sustainable development and poverty alleviation in the region.
