DSWD-CAR Hosts Conference to Empower Sustainable Livelihood Associations in Ifugao

Ifugao — Under the leadership of Regional Director Maria Atitiw Catbagan-Aplaten, the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) successfully organized a Partnership Intervention for Sustainable Livelihood Associations (SLPAs) through the department's Sustainable Livelihood Program. The conference, aimed at empowering SLPAs as potential community service providers, was held with the participation of 29 individuals representing 11 SLPAs from various municipalities of Ifugao.

The primary objective of the conference was to enable SLPAs to effectively participate in community procurement activities, particularly in government procurement opportunities such as the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) and other community or center-based initiatives. The event also aimed to provide SLPAs with the necessary knowledge and resources to become responsible suppliers and access potential financial augmentation.

Key highlights of the conference included in-depth discussions on the SFP, Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP), Negotiated Procurement-Community Participation (NP-CP), and PhilGEPS registration. Esteemed resource speakers, Mr. Jeremiah Saturnino Aro from EPAHP-RPMO and Leni Marie Eroy from SFP-RPMO, provided valuable insights and guidance during the event.

The conference marks a significant step in strengthening the capabilities of SLPAs, fostering their active involvement in community development, and enhancing their potential as reliable community service providers.
